Before, During, and After Reading Tactics to Engage All Learners
This session will walk participants through the planning of a reading lesson that includes (a) tools for building fluency before reading; (b) techniques to help students set a purpose for reading; (c) checking for understanding during reading; and (d) transitioning from shared reading to independent reading.

Building Paragraphs
Before students can compose cohesive essays, they must be able to author paragraphs that explore a single topic by providing supporting details. This session provides a model writing lesson (with analytic rubric) to help students write strong overarching topic sentences, detailed supporting sentences, and effective closing sentence.

Building Strong Readers
From beginning to end, good readers need to apply many skills simultaneously. Discover what those skills are and how you can make them come to life in your students. Examine the foundations of reading and activities to ensure those are developed in the readers you teach.
