Story of A Number: Part 1--Number Bracelets (Gr. K-2)                 
Discover strategies and tools to help children build a strong understanding of numbers in the early years.  Use number bracelets to help children concretely build the math they are learning and using. Following up with pictorial representations will prepare them to add more challenging math concepts later which require a solid foundation of numeracy. In this session, learn proven methods to avoid rote memorization of rules and math facts, and instead develop mathematical thinkers who are set up for success in the early grades and beyond.                                                                                                                        
 
Story of A Number: Part 2--Connecting to 5 & 10 (Gr. K-2)                          
This session will build upon the knowledge gained during part 1 of the story of a number series. Using subitizing and part-whole skills, learn how to have your young mathematicians use materials such as ten-frames, rekenreks, and unifix cubes to connect numbers to the anchors of 5 and 10.                                                                                                               
Subitizing...Seeing & Recognizing is Knowing & Showing (Gr. K-2)                           
Subitizing, the ability to recognize a set of objects without having to count 1:1, is an early numeracy skill our youngest mathematicians work hard to master. During this session, explore a variety of resources and activities you can use daily, both virtually and in person, that will have your students developing their mathematic confidence and eager for more!

Teen numbers...everyone loves them! During this session Kristin will share engaging, hands-on activities to help your young learners master this difficult decade of numbers. Using a variety of materials including picture books, ten-frames, rekenreks, and number lines, you will leave this session with lessons you will want to teach tomorrow.                                                                                                                 
 
Putting Place Value in Its Place (Gr. K-2)               
Place value is more than a two-week unit in the front of the book! It is the basis of computation, estimation, rounding, and number sense. Continue to fill your math toolbox during this session by taking a deep dive into the place value standards and exploring the progression of hands-on place value materials. Discover many activities using different types of base-ten materials to reinforce these key skills.                                                                                                                      
 
Walking the Number Line with Whole Numbers (Gr. K-2)                            
Join Kristin as she takes you for a walk along a number line to show you just how to incorporate this universal and multi-purpose tool in your K-2 classroom.
